Delhi driving....

Driving in Delhi has its own challenges, especially if you are not a "Delhi Driver". How is a "Delhi Driver" recognized? Well that is for another time....

The challenge because, with the new flyovers and dividers, if you miss one turn you are stuck on a long de-route for the next few kms and hours....De-routes which lead you into lanes and by-lanes which you never anticipated to see.....But these de-routes open your eyes to a different world - one into which you were forced by circumstances...and you come out that de-route most of the time, refreshed and have had learnt a few lessons...

Life also is like this - is it not..The de-route of Elimeleck and Naomi for a few years into Moab, was different but they gained a Daughter in law - Ruth who became a key figure in the genealogy of Jesus....

Mark Twain is his book the "Mysterious stranger" writes - paraphrased in my own words..."suppose Columbus had skipped the triflingest link (a de-route) little link in the chain of acts projected and made inevitable by his first childish act...it would have changed his entire life and he would have become a priest and ended in an obscure Italian village, America would not have been discovered for 2 centuries afterword...."

May be - but there is a God who would have made good out this de-route too!

Challenge also because, en-route to your destination, sailing smoothly on the broad roads, suddenly you end up with slowing and stopping traffic. You are almost sure, that if in these wide roads traffic has to slow, there has to be some major accident, - but a few minutes of crawling traffic you would come across a car stopped in between or a Motorbike stopped or a Police check post...a small kink in the smooth traffic is enough to produce major turbulence.....

Venturi and Bernoulli principles in physics talks about these...but true for life too - is it not...it is not the major events that slow down our pace.. it is those small foxes, the little thorns.....

Finally challenge also because you never know who will jump in across your path and lane...we follow this rule "your lane is my lane" "my lane is your lane..."and so you go along expecting vehicles to move in and out of your path with no "notice" keeping you either on the "edge' ....or like most Delhi Drivers.... driving on with "blinders on"...you see unidirectional - you can see only ahead...what is beside or behind does not matter...

Again - much like life...one goes on despite all the "interruptions" and "thumps" and "Bumps" which come in on a regular basis......

But one thing is sure - your will end up where you wanted to go....it is for you to decide whether you want to end up there refreshed or tired and angry...

The best way to drive in Delhi is - to recognize that "your road is my road"..."we all are fellow travelers in the same road....and we all will and have to reach our destination - some time or other....we not in a road race...but in a community of drivers who move together ahead....

Even life - this is what keeps us going - that He who began a good work - will bring it to completion....! and there will be many others who will be there with us....who might have moved in and out of our paths....
